This page will be chronicling my education in photography, and to display some of my favorite photographs. Hopefully these continue to improve….
"Jungle Mountains" Canon G10
"River Highway" Canon G10
"Pai River Bar" Canon G10 13 Sec. F 3.5 ISO 80
"Cross Thai" Somewhere in northern Thailand
"Deep African Bush Sunset" Canon G10 1/15 Sec F 2.8 ISO 100
"African Fishermen" Canon G10
"The Rains Down In Africa" God rays over a crater lake in East Africa. Canon G10 1/1600 Sec F 4.0 ISO 80
"Volcano Sunset" Canon G10 1/25 sec F 4.0 ISO 200
"Red Crater" Canon G10. 1/320 sec F 4.0 ISO 80
"Ice Claws" Canon G10 1/60 sec F/4.0 ISO 80
"Mackinnon Pass, Milford Track, New Zealand" Simply one of the most special places on the planet. Canon G10 1/650 sec F/4.0 ISO 200
"Follow". This was my first successful underwater shoot. I like this pic because it looks like it is in an aquarium. Its not, this is New Zealand! Shot on a Canon G10 with water housing on the "underwater" scene setting.
"Heaven Or Hell Chute" Canon G10. 1/2000 sec @ f 5.0, ISO 100
"Temple Peak" Canon G10. 1/500 sec @ f 4.0, ISO 100
"Snowing Color" Canon G10. 1/2000 sec @ f 4.5, ISO 100. I really cranked up the vibrance and saturation of color on this one. The subtly of color in the snow on this day was just amazing.
"Roller Close" Canon G10. 1/500 sec @ f 4.5, ISO 100
"Color Kissed Rollers" Canon G10. 1/1000 sec @ f 4.0, ISO 100
"No Words To Describe" Canon G10. 1/160 sec @ f 4.0, ISO 100
"Untitled" Canon G10. 1/2000 sec @ f 6.1, ISO 100
"Good Morning Mountain" Canon G10. 1/2000 sec @ f 7.1, ISO 400
"Painted Mountain" Canon G10 1/250 sec at f 4.5, ISO 80.
"Painted Mountain Wide" Canon G10 1/640 at f 4.0, ISO 80. This has a crazy painted look to it...I can't explain how or why. It's just trippy looking
"Surreal Mountains" Canon G10. 75mm wide angle lens w/ polarizing filter. 1/30 sec at f 3.5, ISO 80. I adjusted the vibrance and contrast very slightly to bring out the golden color. This is accurate to how the scene looked. The mountains have a cut and paste look from this vantage point, almost looks fake in the picture, but also with the naked eye from the road.
"River Bed Basin" Canon G10. 1/4 sec at f 4.5, ISO 80
"Kiwi Purple Mountain Majesty" Canon G10. 1/5 sec at f 4.5, ISO 80. This shot was tough, as there was very low light, and I was bracing myself up against my van, which is a diesel, and therefore vibrating tumultuously. I was shooting from the Remarks road which is steep, and full of hairpin turns, so I had to shoot quick.
"Cloud Sea" Canon G10, 75mm Wide Angle lens w/ polarizing filter. Cropped down a bit. 1/250 sec at f 4.0, ISO 80. I did a little color correction on this to bring the red and gold out, but not much. This is quite accurate to what it actually looked like. The scene looks like the sea meeting islands. The cloud layer gives the illusion of less elevation, even though there is another 1000 FT. (300m) below.
Another Mountain and Meadow Photo
Golden Lake and Cliff. Canon G10. 1/500 sec f/4.0, ISO 80. I am trying as hard as I can not to compare, or reference the Lord of the Rings in any way, but once in a while I just see something here, and your just like, "Damn! that could be right out of the movie"....sans the road.
"Aramoana Semi Perfection" Canon G10 on auto. 1/250 sec at f/4.0, ISO 100. When the waves are this good, I had to just switch the camera to auto and snap away. I didn't want to miss any of the waves coming through fumbling with the controls. Luckily the camera was reading perfectly. I need a lot of practice still!
"Just a Perfect Wave" Canon G10 set to auto. 1/125 sec at f/3.5, ISO 200. Yup!
"Nature, WOW!", Canon G10 set to auto. 1/100 sec at f/3.2, ISO 200. Thanks to the waves for setting up a great composition. Yay nature!
"Lucky Barrel Shot"
"Key Hole Rock, Aramoana" Canon G10. 1/20 sec at f/2.8, ISO 80. I like the surfers near the base of the rock that give a sense of scale. Man, sunsets here are increadible!
"Fall Apple Tree Row" shot with my Canon G10. 1/1000 sec at f/ 4.0, ISO 400. Some small color rcorrection was done in Lightroom
"Apple Trees", shot with Canon G10, 1/500 sec at f/4.5, ISO 400. Minor correction in LR
"Yellow Leaves". Shot with Canon G10. 1/400 sec at f/4.5, ISO 400. This is an attempt to learn and play with depth of field. Still have a lot to learn!
"A River Flows Through Arrowtown". Canon G10. 2.0 sec at f/7.1, ISO 100. I liked the way that the log in the fore ground pulls the eye across the bottom of the picture. I tried to keep the shutter open to soften the water but keep the log sharp and more of a focal point.
"Flowing Rock", Canon G10. 0.8 sec at f/8.0, ISO 80. This is my first go at a slow shutter and long exposure to really soften the flowing river. It was pure luck that the light was hitting the rock just right to make it look super glassy.
"Arrowtown Mountain Sunset", Canon G10. 1/80 sec at f/4.5, ISO 100. Shot with a teleconverter lens.
"Sepia Flowers". Canon G10 on tripod. 2.5 sec at f/6.3, ISO 100. I shot this at almost complete dark dusk. I was experimenting with long exposure and my tripod. The sepia tone of the image is what attracts me to this shot.
"Sepia Flowers 2" Canon G10 on tripod. 2.5 sec at f/4.5, ISO 80.
"Mountain and Sea" Canon G10 with wide angle converter lens. 1/800 sec at f/4.0, ISO 100.
